Date nights can be particularly difficult to organise for single parents. There might be trouble finding suitable or affordable childcare, and there may be financial restraints meaning that a fancy night out is just way out of budget. But the global Covid-19 pandemic has thrown in even more challenges. Even if we could afford to go out for a date and we have the perfect babysitter lined up, going out and socialising isn’t always something we’re allowed to do at the moment. This Valentine’s Day is likely to be very different to any we’ve ever experienced before, but we shouldn’t let a little thing like the pandemic stand in our way.
OK, so I’m not suggesting for one second that you should break any of the restrictions around socialising. That just wouldn’t be a sensible (or legal) thing to do. Our safety and the safety of those around us should always be our number one priority. But just because we probably won’t be allowed to go out this Valentine’s Day, that doesn’t mean we can’t still enjoy a Valentine’s Day date!
Meeting somebody during the pandemic
First things first, you might be wondering how on earth you might actually be able to meet anybody new during the pandemic. This is where online dating sites such as Essex singles come in really handy. They are incredibly easy to use and a great way to meet new people. You can even use dedicated local dating sites where you will only get chatting to people who live in your local area (have a look at this Essex dating site as an example).
Virtual Date Night Ideas
Virtual dating is a great way to still enjoy date nights but without physically meeting up. It means that you don’t need to worry about childcare and you’re both tucked away in the safety of your own home. Here are just a few virtual date night ideas you could try this Valentine’s Day.
Enjoy a meal together
Just because you can’t go out to a restaurant, there’s no reason why you can’t still enjoy a meal together virtually. You could both cook the same meal at the same time and sit down at the table with the screen propped up in front of you.
If you don’t fancy cooking, you could both order a takeaway such as a Chinese to arrive at the same time.
Virtual Escape Rooms
Escape Rooms are great fun and during the pandemic they have been available online as they’ve had to close their doors to the public.
Did you know that you could order cocktail making experiences to enjoy at home? These are great for virtual date nights as you can both enjoy a fun experience together and then enjoy drinking the cocktails together too!
So, although we’ve all had our social lives turned upside down for the last year or so, there are still ways that we can make the most of Valentine’s Day this year. Which virtual date night would you prefer?
