The Benefits of Coding Lessons for Children

The Benefits of Coding Lessons for Children

If you’re unfamiliar with coding, it is the process of computer programming. As more of the world around us goes digital, there’s a need to keep up and learn advanced digital skills, especially as 75% of jobs are expected to require them by 2030. Children began learning code in 2014 and since, all children have the opportunity to develop digital literacy. As well as helping them to future proof, it involves both creativity and logic which is what makes it a good subject for children to explore. If you would like to learn more about how coding lessons benefit children, keep reading.

This post is in collaboration with an independent school in Surrey.

To write code and create solutions to programming problems children need and must exercise logic which can help them in maths as well as many other subjects.

Problem Solving

Continuing on from the last point, children are faced with challenges, and they must apply themselves and think differently to create solutions that work. It helps them in strengthening what are known as problem solving skills and in doing so, they can become more dynamic and able to handle issues by themselves.

If your child likes experimenting, they will have a blast coding. They will have the opportunity to trial and test their ideas and see their creations come to life.

Understanding Everyday Tech

It’s also a way for children to gather an understanding of how the world around them works. Every day we interact with programming without even knowing it, like when we use traffic lights to cross the road. The subject can help children to form a greater appreciation for these creations and alight a fascination for technology.
