Dating and Social Distancing

I think we’ve all found 2020 difficult. The Covid-19 pandemic has affected so many areas of our lives that it’s hard not to have felt the impact somewhere. For single parents, the loss of social contact has been particularly hard. Whether it’s the support of family, the all-important occasional night out with friends, or the loss of your dating life, it’s been a difficult year!

Covid-19 restrictions did ease for a while here in the UK, and life started to feel like it was returning to some kind of normality. The kids have gone back to school and more businesses have been allowed to open up. But some restrictions have been brought back into place now that cases are increasing again. All of this means that our lives won’t be the same for the foreseeable future. Because of this, we need to adapt the way we live our lives so that we can get through these difficult times the best we can.

Dating and social distancing

One of the areas hit particularly hard has been dating. Whether it’s casual dating or a relationship with two people living apart, there have been many challenges for couples. But there are ways to still make the most of dating without breaking any social distancing laws.

Perhaps the first challenge is that it’s now far more difficult to meet new people than it ever has been before. Social distancing rules mean that you can’t just go out to the local pub, get chatting to somebody who catches your eye and make a night of it. That’s just not possible any more. Local dating sites such as the Gloucester dating site offer a great alternative. By using a local site, you can meet people in your area who are also looking to meet new people – it cuts out the need to go out.

Once you’ve found somebody online who appeals to you, you can then spend a little time chatting and maybe video calling each other to make sure you’re still a good fit. It’s a great way to get to know each other without the pressure of that first blind date!

If you do decide that you’d like to meet up in real life, then social distancing laws don’t need to stand in your way. Yes, you will need to keep 2 metres apart, but you can still meet up. There are all kinds of date ideas you could try that will allow for you to get to know each other whilst still maintaining that all important social distance. You could go for a walk along the coast or around a local park or National Trust place. You could even organise a picnic together. You just need to be a little bit more inventive than you would have done in the past! But if you think about it, that kind of adds a little bit more fun and mystique into the whole experience.

So, don’t let social distancing stop you from starting up your dating life again. Using a local site such as the Gloucester dating site is a great way to get started! We all need a little normality and social interaction back into our lives, we just need to be a little more cautious than we’re used to.
